Proverbs 22:29 - The verse of a Successful Salesperson

"Do you see a man diligent and skillful in his business? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men." Proverbs 22:29

I've seen it a million times, a sales person keeping their head above poverty then I train them, sit next to them and show them how to build their business and make money and they then transform into a diligent and skillful professional sales person.  

In coaching there is a saying, “Just before a breakthrough happens confusion occurs.” Sometimes when we are down and out and there seems to be no way out, the answer is just around the corner. Failure is only final if you give up.  I firmly believe that when you're down to nothing, God is up to something.  Always remember though that we must take personal responsibility for all of our actions. God gave us 2 legs, 2 arms, eyes and ears so we have control over our temple.  We must tap into what the Lord has already given us, not sit and wait for money to fall from the sky.  

Conviction time ~ how diligent and skillful have you become?  Most companies that call on me hand out an email address to new hires and say "go sell something" there is no playbook articulating a sales system of proven success.   How much time have you invested into your craft?  We all know school is never out for the pro! What has to happen though, for you to feel like you are already at the pro level?

Discipline vs. Obedience 

There is a difference between being self-disciplined and being obedient. ... Being obedient is following directions or commands from someone else; or exhibiting “great behaviors” when an accountability coach is present, whereas, having self-discipline is making those choices without the presence or reminders from someone else.

Do you have the inner drive to be the best at what you do?  if not, we need to instill a little leverage and that tends to make all the difference.  

Here is a quote from Rocky! it's one of my favorites

Keep your faith; faith is being sure of what you hope for and certain of what you do not see. Keep your eyes focused on your outcome and just know if you get knocked down that’s just a speed bump.

To be outstanding at anything takes hard work, but it must be the right kind of work that you are diligent working on.  Too many sales professionals are reading the wrong books they are not filling their mind with skillful techniques to grow their own business.
