WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT SALES TRAINING

Have you ever read the book of Revelations?  I decided to cut off my television cable service and set two goals for myself to accomplish in six months. The First Goal (#1): loose X pounds of weight (I’m not telling you how much);  and the Second Goal (#2): read the entire bible.

I started with Revelations because I thought, “Lets start with the end and go backwards!” What I learned from Revelations was not what I was expecting.  If you haven’t read it, it’s pretty wild what’s in there — angels sending plagues, creatures coming up from the sea and red horses removing “peace” from the earth.  What caught my attention though was how every time God sent a plague, He waited to see who would repent and turn back to Him.  Naturally the people didn’t repent and another plague came.

My first instinct was, “Well, who would want to repent when God was obviously punishing them, the God of Mercy?”...

SALES COACH – MANIPULATION OR MOTIVATION?

I recently went do to a free workshop for a group of “100%” commissioned sales people.  These people decide the size of their paycheck because they only get paid when they actually sell something.  There are several definitions of a sales person.  Unfortunately, many people have preconceived notions of a salesperson looking sleazy, wearing an outdated suite, and someone who will do anything to “sell” even if he or she must lie.

This is more the exception than the norm.  Unfortunately, there are sales techniques out there that are used for the sole purpose to “manipulate.”  “Bait and switch” is a classic one.  They will tell you over the phone the price of the car that they will give (just to you) and then when you show up they will forget what they told you and make the price higher.  This is poor selling because it is based on “manipulation,” which means that the sales person is only...

EVERY UNGUARDED STRENGTH IS A DOUBLE WEAKNESS

“What the heart is filled with the lips will overflow with”

From years of executive coaching, I’ve decoded the secret to prosperity. It lies in one statement: “See your future as brilliant.” What does that mean? It means if you don’t have a compelling future you’ll fall susceptible to giving up. “People without a vision perish.” Considering the state of the economy. Sixty-three per cent of Americans say that they believe the best times are behind them; that the quality of their lives and their children’s lives will not be as good. The problem with this, is once you believe this, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. When you stop trying, it becomes learned helplessness. Less than 20% of Americans feel they have control of their financial future. I’m sure if you’re reading this you are not one of those people. You can’t control what happens around you all of the time, and you can’t control what you...

YOUR SITUATION DOESN’T HAVE TO IMPROVE FOR YOUR GRATITUDE TO INCREASE

“When one door closes another one always opens, but sometimes it’s hell in the hallways.”

What to do when you are stuck in the hallway … and it’s hell?

What happens when things aren’t so awesome? Do you ever feel like you are in a valley, or worse, six feet deep in a ditch in a valley? Do you feel bitter because other people seem to have good fortune and you don’t? Are you feeling lost, wondering what you should be doing but not finding any answers? Have you lost your faith? Do you have a hard time trusting that “good things” will come your way because you‘ve been disappointed so many times? Do you feel stuck?

Good news! The deeper the valley, the higher the peak! Here is what to do:

Faith is making that cold call even though the odds are against you.
Go to the gym even though you might have so far to go.
Save money even though you have so little to begin with.
Start preparing for blessings to come. You will get nowhere...

LET YOUR HEART SEE WHAT YOUR EYES CAN’T.

Have you ever noticed that your “head” may be telling you one thing and your “heart” is telling you another?

Love is stronger than logic. This is true because think about someone you know that smokes cigarettes. Do they logically know it’s bad for them, yes? Smoking usually has an emotional attachment to it, otherwise anyone in his or her right mind would read the label and stay away. This applies to dating, do you know, or have you known someone that had dated a complete loser? You try to be the “voice of reason” but they continue to go back to the loser, why? Because there is an emotional connection. Logic will not win over the “will”. This is important to know in sales b/c if you sell just based on price you will seldom win. Have you ever bought something that you couldn’t afford? Why? Because we became emotional in one-way or another to the product.

“The road to hell is paved with good intentions…” Do...

DISCIPLINE ~ THE KEY TO FREEDOM

What separates the successful people from everybody else? Is it “Habits.”  I like to call them “Rituals.”  What are your rituals—Physical? Emotional? Intellectual? Spiritual? What Disciplines have you developed?

If you are physically fit, you would have the ritual (habit/discipline) of working out and eating well.  Emotionally angry people tend to get angry.  What energy do you find yourself practicing most of the time? Intellectually, where do you seek wisdom? Are you growing, or are you in a slump?  What books are you reading? And Spiritually, what sustains you from the inside when all else falls away?  Can you be alone with yourself—and do you truly like the company you keep in the empty moments?

The “world” tells  us to do what makes us happy.  I see teenagers, drinking, over eating, over spending, indulging in promiscuous behaviors, and I see a suicide rate...

Overcoming Opposition

A Word of Encouragement

Do you ever feel like you just can’t get up above a problem or can’t seem to accomplish that goal that you’ve set as the same goal year after year?  Or maybe there is that one person that haunts you with negative things that they’ve said in your past and for some reason you keep replaying their voice in your head over and over and you can’t escape the limitations that they’ve set upon you?  If this is you then it’s time to be set free!

-Don’t worry about the haters.  They are just angry because the truth you speak contradicts the lie they live.-

“To Manipulate the fears in others you must first master your own” –Batman

Do you have someone in your life that tries to control you?  Have you ever wanted to say to them: Deal with your own problems and leave me alone!  Many times when we face difficulty or resistance it’s really more of some person placing their...

Formula for Motivation & Causes of Procrastination

There are two ways people are generally motivated!  1) the “Carrot.” That is the “thing” out there in the future that you want.  Maybe it’s a new car, a dream vacation, a house etc.  When you create a picture of what you really want and, when you look or think about that picture of your desire, it gives you good feelings.  You tell yourself and others what you want, and you begin to move in the right direction to achieve it. Motivated people typically focus on the end result.  They think about what it is that they want and what it would feel like to have it. They tell themselves, “this is easy because…” and then they give supporting evidence to enhance and create a stronger belief (reasons) why they can achieve what they want.  The next type of motivation is 2) “the Stick.” This means you are motivated “away from” pain rather than motivated “towards” the...

When Your Faith is Tested

Whatever your heart is filled with, your lips will overflow with! You must guard your heart, which means you must be on guard for what you allow your thoughts to think about — which ultimately means you must control your environment.  It doesn’t matter how motivated you are or how strong willed you can be, your imagination is stronger than your will and if you allow unclean people, environments and words, to enter into your consciousness, they will remain.  That’s why watching horror movies is so bad.  It may seem silly or entertaining at the time, but the pictures of what you watch will be held in your subconscious mind.  To guard your heart, you must guard your thoughts, and in order to watch your thoughts you MUST consciously choose your friends, what movies you watch, and what environments you enter.  “He who walks with wise men will be wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.” (Proverbs 13:20) This is most...

Emotional Fitness – Mindset Makeover

Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is one’s ability to identify, evaluate, control and express emotions.  When someone has a high EQ it means they have the ability to understand, empathize, and connect with people around them.  It is however, totally different from Intellectual Intelligence (IQ) which is used to determine academic abilities. Ones EQ will trump ones IQ when it comes to dealing with life’s curve balls.  Emotional fitness, is defined as someone that lets their choices dictate their emotions.  Emotional suicide, is letting your emotions dictate your decisions.  Someone with a high EQ will face a problem and see it as an opportunity to grow, they will use the negatives as a teacher to learn from.  Someone with a low EQ will tend to channel their energy on the conditions of their life as an opportunity to blame – people, places and things as the reason for their circumstances rather than taking personal responsibility for their...
